Chose a $42 used paint gun over a $700 new one, surprised how it turned out

My old DeVilbiss finally gave up during a pearl job on a Mustang last month. Shop credit was tight so I grabbed a used Iwata from a local guy who was retiring from painting. Paid $42 for it, stripped it down, replaced the needle and seat for another $25. Sprayed a fender with it today and the pattern was honestly cleaner than my old setup. I know buying used guns is a gamble but this one paid off. Anyone else take a chance on a beat up gun and get lucky?

Scored a similar deal on a Sata from a body shop that was closing. Paid $50 because the cup was cracked and the trigger felt sticky. Threw in a rebuild kit and a new cup, total around $75. Felt sketchy at first but man, that thing laid down a metallic base coat like butter. You can't judge a gun by the wear on it, sometimes it's just beat up from getting used hard in the booth.
