I used to think those cheap paint thickness gauges from the online marketplace were fine, but I just lost a $1200 job because mine was off by 3 mils on a quarter panel.

I mean, it read fine on my test plate, but when the insurance adjuster came with his calibrated unit, it showed my prep was way too aggressive and the customer walked, so has anyone found a decent mid-range gauge that's actually reliable?
