One talk with a paint rep flipped my whole view on primer

Met a PPG rep at a supplier meetup in Nashville last Tuesday and he straight up told me I was burning money skimping on sealer. He showed me a fender where the old paint lifted after 6 months because I skipped the epoxy step. I always figured primer was primer, but he walked me through how moisture gets trapped and blows the topcoat. Now I'm wondering if my last 3 warranty claims were all my own fault. Anyone else had a rep drop knowledge that made them second guess their whole process?
