Question about masking tape residue on fresh clear coat

I keep seeing guys at the shop in Columbus pulling tape off before the clear fully flashes, then wondering why they're wet sanding for an hour. Just had a job last Tuesday where someone left 3M tape on overnight in 70 degree heat and it baked into the finish. Anyone else dealing with this, or do you all have a specific time you wait before demasking?
