Switched to urethane seam sealer after a rust come back in Dayton
Used to do all my panel seams with body filler and thought it was fine. Had a 2012 Silverado come back through my shop in Dayton last month with rust bleeding through the exact seams I patched 18 months ago. Customer was not happy, and honestly I couldn't blame him. Now I use a quality urethane seam sealer on everything, costs about $14 more per job but I haven't seen a single failure since. Anyone else dealt with filler cracking out along seams, or am I the last guy making that switch?

Filler was never meant for seams, that's a lesson a lot of us learn the hard way. Urethane is the right call, it flexes with the metal and actually bonds to the bare steel instead of just sitting on top. You're ahead of the curve, plenty of guys are still doing it the old way and paying for it later.
