That cheap weld-through primer finally bit me in the ass in Cleveland

I've been using the same $8 gallon from the auto paint store for years, never had a problem. Last month I did a quarter panel on a 2016 F-150 and didn't clean the bare metal with wax remover first. Blistered like crazy under the sealer within 2 weeks, customer came back pissed. Turns out that cheap stuff has a shelf life too, checked the label and it was 14 months old. Anyone else got burned by old primer or do you guys just replace yours every season?
