Used to just eyeball filler mixes on every repair
Honestly, I'd just mix bondo by feel until last year when a shop owner in Denver showed me using a scale for exact ratios. Now my repairs cure way more consistent, anyone else switch to measuring?

I learned mixing by feel from my grandpa and never had a problem until my buddy brought over a scale he got for cheap. I tried it on a fender repair and honestly couldn't tell the difference in how it cured or sanded. A Denver shop owner probably has time to weigh stuff out, but for a driveway job like mine, eyeballing it works fine. Are you really getting that many repair failures from a slightly off ratio?

That "couldn't tell the difference" part is the key. Maybe the real issue isn't whether the mix is perfect, but that plenty of repairs just aren't sensitive enough to a few grams one way or the other to matter.
