Vent: A customer brought in a car with a weird clear coat reaction

Got a 2017 Honda Accord in the shop Tuesday with a milky haze over the fresh quarter panel. The painter said he followed the tech sheet for the basecoat, but the clear from our usual supplier just wouldn't lay flat. Has anyone seen this with a specific brand of clear lately?

My buddy's shop had that same haze last month, maybe check your reducer like elizabeth_jackson said?

Did you check the temp in the booth when it was sprayed? That milky haze usually shows up when the clear is applied too cold or the flash times are off between coats. I work with PPG clear mostly and the only time I've seen that is when the painter rushed the basecoat dry time or the humidity was over 70% that day. Sometimes it's not the brand but the shop conditions messing with it. Check your temp gauge and make sure the reducer is the right one for the weather.

Check your reducer. That milky look is a classic sign of bad mixing.
