Walked into a custom paint shop in Austin last week and changed my mind about waterborne paint
I've been hating on waterborne for years, always stuck with solvent. But I watched this guy lay down a candy red on a '68 Mustang and the metallic flake sat perfectly flat no mottling at all. He said it's all about the slower flash time and running a bigger tip like a 1.4. Now I'm thinking about making the switch for my next project. Anyone else here switch and regret it or love it?

Watched a buddy fight with waterborne for months on a classic Camaro, total nightmare with fisheye. But then I saw a pro lay down a metallic grey on a '65 Impala using a 1.4 tip and slow reducer, looked like glass. Made me wonder if I've just been using the wrong setup this whole time lol.

Why is it that the best results always come from somebody who's been doing it so long they make the hard stuff look easy, like they're not even trying? It's the same thing I see with guys who can flip houses in a weekend while the rest of us spend months chasing leaks and drywall dust. A setup matters but experience and knowing the little tricks seems to make the biggest difference, don't you think?
