Went to a workshop in Phoenix last month and noticed something weird about their paint booth setup

I was at a shop in Phoenix for a training class and saw they had their intake filters spaced way further apart than I've ever done. The owner said he's been running that way for 5 years with no dust issues. Makes me wonder if I'm overthinking my own booth layout or if dry climates just let you get away with more?

Ngl I read somewhere that dry climates basically let you cut corners on filtration because there's less moisture in the air.
