Talked to a guy at a parts counter near Austin who showed me blow-by on a 10-year-old Cummins that got 300k miles because they only used Fleetguard filters, and now I'm wondering if my Wix obsession is just wasting money for the same filtration.

That line about "only used Fleetguard filters" really got me thinking. I used to be a Wix guy through and through, figured anything else was just paying for the name on the box. But the more I looked into it, the more I saw how Cummins and Fleetguard work together from the ground up, like OEMs do. I even started checking my oil analysis reports from a few years back and noticed that on my old Ford with a Wix filter, the wear metals were a tad higher. Not huge, but enough to make me wonder if I've been penny wise and pound foolish this whole time. Now I'm swapping over to OEM filters on my own truck, just because seeing that 300k mile Cummins kinda flipped a switch in my head.
