Found out I was torquing lug nuts wet for 8 years, now I feel stupid

Was working on a buddy's truck last week in his garage. He asked why I was hitting the torque wrench 'click' on a dry thread and I said what do you mean. He handed me a shop manual from 1998 that said torque specs are for clean dry threads only. I always thought the oil on the studs was helping. Now I have to re-torque every wheel I've done since I started at the Firestone in Dayton back in 2016. Anyone else learn this from a random manual instead of a senior tech?

Get that torque wrench back out and redo every wheel you can, dry and clean like the manual says, before someone's wheel comes loose on the highway. Better to spend a Saturday on it than deal with a call from a customer who lost a tire at 70 mph.
