I compared a Snap-on scan tool to a cheap Amazon one on a 2012 Chevy Cruze

Had a 2012 Cruze come in last week with a check engine light and a weird stumble at idle. My Snap-on scanner was out for a firmware update, so I grabbed a $150 Amazon special from a coworker. That thing pulled a dozen generic codes that made no sense, like 'fuel system too lean' and a bunch of transmission codes that didnt apply. I waited two days for my Snap-on to come back, plugged it in, and it told me exactly which cylinder had a failing injector and the fuel trim data. The cheap one was basically just guessing. Has anyone else tried those budget scanners and actually got useful info out of them?

Bet the cheap one can't even spell "Cruze" right to begin with.

Did you try turning it off and on again? My luck that’d brick it.
