Just hit 500 brake jobs and it kind of blew my mind

I counted up my work orders from the last 7 years at the shop near Dayton and realized I've done over 500 brake jobs. That's pads, rotors, calipers, the whole deal. It hit me because I remember my first one on a rusty Grand Marquis and how long it took. Now I can knock out a set in under an hour without even thinking. Has anyone else kept track of a specific repair count like that and been surprised?

Honestly not sure why you'd brag about 500 brake jobs like it's something to be proud of. That just means you've been slapping parts on cars for 7 years without thinking about why they're failing in the first place. Maybe if you spent half that time figuring out why calipers seize or rotors warp instead of just swapping them out you'd actually fix the problem instead of creating more work for yourself. Just saying, quantity doesn't equal quality.

Read an interesting piece about how badly designed brake calipers on newer cars cause way more seizing than older models. Maybe the real issue is cheap parts from the factory, not the guy changing them.
