Just lost a full day on a 'simple' Ford F150 water pump because of a hidden bolt.
The job sheet said 2.5 hours, but I spent 8 hours fighting a single 10mm bolt tucked behind the alternator bracket... you can't even see it without a mirror. The shop ate the extra time, so I lost about $300 in pay. Anyone know a trick for that specific spot on the 2018 5.0L, or is it just a curse?

Yeah, that "hidden bolt" is the worst part of that job. I've been there, and it feels like the whole truck was built around that one 10mm. At least the shop covered the time, but losing that pay still stings.

Totally get what you mean about that 10mm. It's funny how one stupid little part can eat up your whole day. That kind of thing reminds me of how people assume simple problems have simple fixes, like a leaky faucet that takes thirty seconds, but then you find out the handle is stripped and the shutoff valve is frozen. We all do it with stuff around the house too, thinking something will be quick and cheap, and then it turns into this whole project because of one hidden detail you couldn't see. Kinda makes you wonder how many other things in life have a "hidden bolt" nobody talks about.

Honestly, that bolt is a known time-suck, but eight hours? You ever try a wobble extension with a universal joint? Lets you snake right up behind the bracket without dropping the alternator.
