My 2015 F-150 threw a check engine light and it ended up being a $900 lesson

So last Tuesday I'm driving home from a job in Cleveland and the check engine light pops on. I pull over, scan it, and it's the cam phaser issue that these 5.0s are famous for. Took it to my buddy's shop and he confirmed the timing chain tensioners gave up around 112,000 miles. Has anyone else dealt with this on the 5.0 Coyote? I'm thinking about swapping in a used motor instead of just fixing it.

My 2013 did the SAME thing at 98k miles.

Read some forums where people traced it to a bad PCV valve on those motors.
