My new 3/8 inch torque wrench from Harbor Freight just gave me a false click

I was putting a water pump on a 2015 Civic last Thursday, torquing the bolts to 18 ft-lbs. The wrench clicked on the second bolt, but the bolt was barely finger tight. I checked the setting twice, tried it on a known good bolt, and got the same bad click. Ended up finishing the job with my old beam style wrench. Has anyone else had a new torque wrench fail right out of the box like that?

Feel like I should get a discount for doing Harbor Freight's quality control for them. Had a similar thing happen with a 1/2 inch drive one, clicked way early on some lug nuts. My trust in click wrenches is now about as strong as their calibration. Ended up keeping a cheap beam wrench in the box just to double check the fancy ones.

Yikes, that's why I always check my clicker against the old beam wrench first!

I used to trust them too, but now I always double check.
