PSA: A master tech told me I was greasing slide pins wrong for 8 years

Man I read something a while back about how even experienced mechanics get stuff like this wrong all the time. Someone was saying their buddy had been putting anti-seize on slide pins for years until a master tech told him that's actually the worst thing you can do because it dries out and causes binding. Now I'm paranoid about my own brake jobs thinking I've been messing up something basic this whole time.

Same thing happens in so many areas of life where the “right way” changes every few years based on the latest hot take from some internet expert. Brake jobs, oil change intervals, even how you wash your car seems to flip flop constantly. People just trust what they hear from a random guy on YouTube instead of reading the actual service manual for their specific vehicle.
