That diesel job in Omaha last Tuesday made me rethink my whole approach to fuel system work

Had a 2015 Ram 2500 come in with a CP4 pump failure, and while I was doing the replacement, a piece of debris I missed got into the high-pressure lines and trashed the injectors two days later - cost the customer an extra $1,200 out of pocket. Has anyone else started just replacing the entire fuel rail and lines preemptively on these jobs to save headaches?

janac51 makes a solid point with the borescope idea. I used to think that was overkill until a similar thing happened with a 6.7 Powerstroke last fall, missed a tiny shard in the rail and it cost me a whole weekend. Now I pull the lines and flush everything with solvent before reassembly, just to be safe. The extra hour of labor is worth not having that call two days later.

You missed a piece of debris and it cost them $1,200 extra." That right there is why I started using a borescope to check every line and rail before buttoning it up. Saves the headache of a second tear down, and customers appreciate the extra look inside.
