The shift from carburetors to EFI happened faster than folks realize

I started wrenching in the mid 90s and back then every other car rolling in had a carb that needed tweaking, especially in the cold months here in Denver. By about 2005 I barely saw them anymore, fuel injection just took over because it was more reliable and passed emissions easier. Do any of you younger guys even learn to rebuild a carb on the job these days?

Ngl, most younger mechanics I know just swap the whole intake or drop in a new throttle body. Honestly, carbs are seen as vintage wizardry now, something only the old timers mess with. Tbh, the skill is fading fast, and EFI just made everything simpler from the get go.

You said carbs are seen as vintage wizardry now, do you think that's just because colleges and trade schools stopped teaching them, or did the industry just move on too fast for anyone to bother?
