Warning: Got bit by a fan belt at a shop in Albuquerque last Tuesday

I was leaning in to check a tensioner on a 2002 F-150 and the belt caught my sleeve. Spent the rest of the day in urgent care getting stitches and a tetanus shot. Anyone else had a close call with loose clothing around belts?

Used to be one of those people who thought safety guards and warnings were overkill. Then I had a shop rag get yanked into a spinning pulley on a compressor and watched it get shredded in about half a second. That changed my mind real quick. Now I'm a stickler about tucking in shirts and rolling up sleeves before I even open the hood. How bad was the tear on your sleeve when it happened?

Drove home from the shop that day with my arm throbbing and had to stop and think about all the times I rolled my eyes at people wearing short sleeves or keeping their shirt tucked in. @the_sandra I agree with you completely now, that stuff is no joke when you see what a belt can do to fabric in seconds. My sleeve had a nasty tear and blood soaked through the whole thing before I even got to urgent care. It was a real wakeup call to stop being lazy about safety just because I wanted to save a few minutes on the job.
