Why does nobody talk about how dealerships give out bad torque specs?
I was at a local Chevy dealer last week picking up parts for a 2023 Silverado and the service writer casually gave me a torque spec for the lower control arm bolts. I double checked it when I got back to my shop and it was 30 ft-lbs off from what TIS says. That could have snapped a bolt or worse on a customer's truck. I asked the tech next to me and he said they just use whatever the old guys tell them. Has anyone else caught dealers passing around bad numbers like that?

That "whatever the old guys tell them" part really got me because I used to think dealers had all the specs locked down tight but now I realize they're just guessing half the time.
