A loose cannon plug on a Cessna 172 nearly took out our whole panel at KSDL

I was doing a pre-flight check at Scottsdale last Thursday, and while tracing a Bendix King radio harness, I saw the cannon plug on the #2 nav unit sitting a full quarter turn loose. I snugged it down, but it had already fretted the pins and one was bent, causing an intermittent short that killed the COM2 and the audio panel for about 20 seconds. We caught it before flight, but if it had let go at altitude, we'd have lost comms in class B, that's a mess nobody wants. Has anyone else seen these old plugs work loose after thermal cycling, or is it just my luck with 1980s wiring?
