Static straps in cold weather are a whole different beast. What was the actual temperature when your routine almost failed? That detail changes everything for people working up there.

Ugh, tell me about it. It was negative fifteen without the wind chill. At that point, the strap material just turns stiff and brittle, like trying to tie a knot with a frozen stick. My usual wrap-and-tuck method completely slipped because I couldn't get a tight, flexible hold. That specific temp is the difference between a minor hassle and a real safety problem. You just can't muscle through it the same way.
