Spent 4 hours chasing a ghost on a Garmin G1000 yesterday
Turns out the PFD was showing a red X on the MFD because of a loose coax connector behind the panel, not anything in the software. I went through three different troubleshooting trees and even swapped a display before I grabbed the multimeter and checked continuity. Has anyone else had a simple hardware fault eat up a whole afternoon like that?

Man that red X on a G1000 is the worst feeling, it just stares at you like "good luck." I've noticed this pattern in everything from cars to home networking (like when your wifi drops and you blame the router but it's just a loose cable behind the wall). We always want to blame the complicated software stuff because it feels more logical, but I swear half the time it's some dumb physical connection that came loose or a wire that got pinched. It's like how a car runs rough and everyone starts guessing sensors and computers, but sometimes it's just a dirty air filter or a cracked vacuum hose.

Doesn't software glitches cause that red X way more often than a loose cable?
