Spent 6 hours chasing a gremlin on a CRJ last Tuesday and it was a chafed wire behind the panel
Last Tuesday at the hangar in Tulsa I got handed a squawk for an intermittent APU fault on a CRJ 200 and I figured it would be a quick reset. Six hours later I finally found a chafed wire hiding behind the avionics bay panel where somebody had zip tied it against a bracket. I must have pulled and reseated 4 connectors and swapped the control unit twice before I saw the bare spot on the insulation. My back is still mad at me for how I had to twist in there. Has anyone else run into a ground issue that only shows up when the plane is cold, and how do you catch it faster?
