That moment I found corrosion under a seemingly clean connector pin
Been seeing a pattern lately where folks pull a connector, see the outside looks fine, and slap it back on. Last month on a King Air I found green crust hiding under the pin sleeve on a cannon plug that looked perfect from the top. You gotta pull the pin and inspect the full barrel, not just the tip, especially on older aircraft with that wire seal compound. Anyone else running into this on the -100 series wing deice connectors?

Use a pin extraction tool to avoid scoring the barrel, not just a scribe.

Last month on a Challenger 604 I pulled a cannon plug that looked spotless on the outside and found the same green powder in the back half of three pins. The wire seal compound trapped moisture right under the barrel where you can't see it. Now I always pull a couple pins randomly on any connector that's been in service a few years, and I use the right extraction tool exactly like Gray said.
