Vent: I was crimping D-sub pins wrong for a year and didn't know
I was working on a Garmin G1000 install for a Cessna 172 at our shop in Daytona, and kept getting intermittent faults on a serial data line. A guy from the avionics shop next door, Mike, saw my crimp tool setup and just said, 'You know that die is for the insulator, not the conductor, right?' I had been using the wrong cavity on my P/N 60068-1 tool for the actual wire crimp this whole time, which explains some past headaches. Anyone else have a simple tool mistake that caused you grief?

Wow, I used to think that didn't matter.

Ever have one of those things you thought was just a dumb rule until it bit you? I used to think putting a coaster under every drink was pointless, then I ruined a nice wooden table with a water ring that wouldn't come out.
