Visited the Cessna plant in Wichita last spring and watched them wire up a 172
I stood there for 20 minutes watching a guy terminate shielded twisted pair into a D-sub connector. He used a cheap crimper from Amazon and the pins looked like garbage. Any of you guys actually trust those $30 tool kits for MIL-spec work?

Does a bad crimp really matter on a 172 though? The rivets aren't exactly space shuttle quality either.

Rivets are the least of my worries. I flew a 172 for three years with a crimp that looked like a squashed bug and it never gave me a second of trouble. The plane did just fine, probably better than I did.
