Everyone says to avoid the east ridge on Mount Adams in late season, but I tried it last September and it was fine.

Man, I used to totally buy into that warning too... but you're right, sometimes the "rules" are just passed down without anyone actually checking.

People just love repeating rules they've never actually tested themselves.

Honestly, September snowpack varies a ton year to year.
