I finally gave the Timberline Trail a shot after avoiding it for years
I always thought a 40-mile loop around Mt. Hood would be too crowded, but I went last month and the views from Elk Cove were worth every step. Has anyone else done it clockwise versus counter-clockwise and have a preference?

Wait, you did a FORTY mile loop in a MONTH? That's insane mileage for most people. I'm honestly shocked you pulled that off.

Counter-clockwise is way better for the river crossings.

Taylor nailed it with counter-clockwise. And averywright, yeah I know forty miles in a month sounds crazy. My legs felt like they were filled with wet concrete after the first big water crossing. I actually fell in during the second one and had to hike the last five miles in squelching boots. Guess that's what I get for trying to look cool on a log bridge.
