My tent pole snapped on the Lost Coast Trail last weekend
I was setting up camp near Punta Gorda when a gust of wind caught the fly. Heard a loud crack and my main pole just gave out. Had to MacGyver it with some duct tape and a sturdy stick I found. Spent the whole night listening to it creak. Anyone have a good fix for a broken pole section, or should I just replace the whole tent?

Check the pole material. Is it aluminum or fiberglass? That changes what kind of fix will actually hold.

My buddy had that happen on a trip up north. He got a pole repair sleeve from an outdoor store and it held up for years after. Might be worth trying before you buy a whole new tent.

lol @wesley_fox92 I mean yeah sleeves can work, but is it really that serious? Like are you planning on sleeping in that tent every weekend or just one trip a year? Aluminum poles take a beating and fiberglass ones can be fixed with a little duct tape and a stick if you're stuck. Unless the pole snapped clean in half and you're out in the middle of nowhere for a week, I'd just tape it and move on. Feels like people overthink tent repairs sometimes.
