Serious question, has anyone else had a perfect trail day on the Lost Coast?
Last June, my buddy and I hit the northern section from Mattole to Black Sands. We got a full 12 hours of clear skies, saw maybe 20 seals on the beach, and the tide was so low we didn't even need to check our charts. It was the one trip where everything just clicked. What's your story for a route that went way better than you planned?

Mattole to Black Sands in 2021 was like that for me. We had a 10-hour weather window with zero wind, which is crazy for that coast. Found a full gallon of fresh water just pooling in the rocks above the tide line, saved us a filter run. Those days where the trail just gives you a free pass are pure magic.

That stretch has some brutal wind normally. Did you make it all the way to the sands in that single window, or did you have to hunker down when it picked back up?

Robinson's "free pass" days are great, but I find the real magic is when the trail throws you a bone after a rough start. Willow_martin knows how bad that wind can get, so when it finally quit on us near Miller Flat, the quiet felt earned, not just lucky. That switch from fight to gift makes the good miles even sweeter.
