Slipped on a wet root coming down Mt. Tam last Saturday and my whole route plan for the summer changed
I was 2.3 miles into the Steep Ravine loop near Stinson Beach when a root I had stepped over going up sent me down hard on the way back, tweaking my ankle bad enough that I sat there for 20 minutes before limping out. Turns out I had been planning every trip this summer around big mileage days and never once checked the descent grade or the trail surface for the last mile of each route. Is it just me or do most route guides barely mention how sketchy the downhill sections get after rain?
