That guy on the Colorado Trail who told me I was 'doing it wrong'
I was 40 miles into a solo hike on the Collegiate Loop last September, taking a break to filter water by a creek, when this older dude in full ultralight gear walks up and tells me my pack is 'overloaded for this terrain.' He then spent 10 minutes listing everything I should ditch, even pointing at my tent like it was a crime. Has anyone else had some random stranger try to rewrite your whole route plan mid-trail?

I mean, that 'doing it wrong' thing is basically just gatekeeping with extra steps. It's like when someone tells you your bike isn't proper for a certain trail or your fishing gear is too beginner. People just can't help trying to project their way as the only way, even when you're clearly out there enjoying yourself.

Doesn't that kind of people just hate seeing someone happy without their approval, @logan632?
