Why I finally gave up on the AT for the Colorado Trail...

I did 300 miles of the Appalachian Trail back in 2021 and just thought that was how backpacking was supposed to feel - wet socks every day, no views, just green tunnels. This summer I tried the Colorado Trail for 200 miles and the difference was night and day. You can actually see where you're going, the trail is way less crowded, and the campsites don't feel like someone's backyard. Has anyone else made the switch from eastern trails to western ones and found the same thing?
