Dropped $400 on a smart sprinkler controller and my water bill went up 20% instead of down

I thought the Rachio would adjust to rain better than my old timer but it kept watering during storms the first month, so who's actually had good luck with those wifi controllers saving money?

Did you set up the rain skip and soak cycle settings right? I had to tweak mine a bunch before it stopped watering in the rain...

Cranked up the soak cycle myself. That fixed it.
