Found out my rain barrel holds way less than I thought

I was bragging to my neighbor about my 50 gallon rain barrel setup until I actually measured it. Turns out the thing only holds 37 gallons because of the spigot height and overflow pipe. Found this out by doing the math after a big storm last Tuesday. Has anyone else checked their actual capacity or am I the only dummy here?

Why get all worked up over 13 gallons? If anything, you should be grateful your barrel is smaller since it means less stagnant water sitting around for mosquitoes to breed in.
