My dad in Boise kept saying dont till your garden in spring, waited 3 seasons to try it and hes right
Every April I would rent a tiller from the Ace on Fairview and churn up my whole 20x15 plot before planting, and every summer my tomatoes stalled out around July. My dad kept telling me to skip the till and just lay 3 inches of compost on top, and after 3 seasons of fighting him I finally tried it last spring. The soil stayed loose, weeds came up way easier to pull, and I pulled 41 pounds of tomatoes off 6 plants. Anyone else gone no-till, and how long before your soil really turned around?
