My plastic patio chairs melted in the sun last July
I left my cheap resin chairs out in the backyard during that heatwave last July in Phoenix and came home to find they had literally warped and sagged from the sun. I had six of them and three were totally ruined, the plastic got soft and just folded over itself. Now I store them in the shed when the temp hits 105 and I'm looking at getting some aluminum ones instead. Has anyone tried those outdoor aluminum chairs and do they actually stay cool enough to sit on?

Right? That Phoenix heat is brutal on cheap plastic stuff. My own resin chairs turned into puddles last July too, they just melted into weird blobs that looked like modern art gone wrong. I switched to aluminum and they get warm in direct sun but nothing like the plastic which felt like it was trying to cook me alive.

Isn't it wild how we keep buying the same plastic junk expecting different results? @kim_martin I think you nailed it - these companies KNOW their stuff can't handle real heat but they sell it anyway. I noticed the same pattern with phone cases, they all say "heat resistant" but leave one in your car dashboard and it gets all warped and bubbly in like two hours. Even my Tupperware lids got all misshapen after sitting near a west-facing window, I had to throw half of them out. It feels like nothing's built to last anymore, they just want us to rebuy the same garbage every season.
