Picked a paver patio over a deck for my 400 sq ft backyard in Austin
I went back and forth for like 2 months before finally choosing pavers over a wood deck. The heat here in Texas makes decks warp so bad, and I saw my neighbor's cedar deck crack after just one summer. So far the pavers have held up great through 3 rainstorms and zero shifting. Anyone else deal with this choice and regret their pick?

I get what you mean about the warping, I saw a buddy's deck in San Antonio twist up like a pretzel after one August. My cousin poured a concrete patio instead and it's been solid, but now he's fighting with weeds growing through the cracks every spring. Funny how you fix one issue and another one pops up out of nowhere.

Hang on, are we sure concrete is actually better though? I mean yeah it doesn't warp like wood, but once it cracks it's not just weeds, it's water getting in there and freezing, making the cracks worse every winter. At least with a deck you can replace a few boards here and there and it still looks okay. Concrete is a huge pain to patch and never matches right after. Plus with wood you can stain it a different color whenever you get bored of it, concrete is pretty much stuck looking like concrete forever. Not saying decks are perfect, but people act like concrete is this magic bullet and it's really not.
