Pro tip: using a soil knife instead of a trowel for planting bulbs this fall saved me about 30 minutes on my whole backyard bed

I used to dig each hole one by one with a trowel but after my neighbor handed me her soil knife last Saturday I just cut straight through the grass and flipped it over way faster. Has anyone else found one tool that totally changed their garden routine?

Your soil knife trick is solid but here's what nobody mentions: using a hori hori knife for weeding too. I got one last spring and it changed everything because you can dig out dandelion roots without wrecking the whole area around them. Plus the serrated edge cuts through cardboard mulch boxes like butter when you're setting up new beds. That same knife saves me from switching tools five times every time I go out back now.

Grab a hori hori knife if you haven't already. That serrated edge slices through roots and stubborn soil way easier than a regular trowel.
