The neighbor's sprinkler timer war taught me one thing
My neighbor in Des Moines spent 3 months changing his sprinkler times for his back lawn, fighting his HOA about runoff. He finally put in a cheap rain sensor for $35 at a local hardware store and it solved the whole issue. Now I check my own setup before every season instead of assuming the settings are fine. Anyone else dealt with an HOA over backyard watering that made you change your approach?

Got a buddy in Omaha who had the same fight with his HOA last summer. He kept adjusting his timer every week, then the HOA sent him a nasty letter about water pooling on the sidewalk. So he bought one of those little rain sensors, wired it up in an afternoon, and that was it. Now he tells everyone to just skip the arguing and spend the 35 bucks. I figure half the HOA battles are just about people not using the cheap fix.
