Tried those solar-powered pathway lights from Costco for $40 and they dim to almost nothing after about three months of summer sun

Honestly I figured cheaper solar lights would just be a little weaker but these things look like dying fireflies by August, has anyone found a budget set that actually stays bright past the first season?

Used to think all solar lights were basically the same... grabbed a cheap set from Target last year and they were pathetic by midsummer. Kinda changed my whole view on spending a little more up front.

The key is finding lights with a separate solar panel, not the ones with the panel built into the light head itself. A decent set with the panel on a wire lets you point it at the sun all day while the light stays in the shade. I grabbed a cheap set from Amazon that way and they're still going strong halfway through year two.
