Was dead wrong about those solar fountain pumps

I always thought those floating solar fountains were junk that would break in a season. My neighbor put one in her pond in Phoenix and it's been running every day for 14 months straight without a hiccup. The pump is a tiny SunPump model and it still pushes water a foot high even in August heat. Has anyone else had one last way longer than you expected?

Used to be a total skeptic about those things. Figured they were just gimmicks that would die the first time the sun went behind a cloud. Picked up a tiny one for a birdbath last summer just to prove myself right. Eight months later its still going strong, pumping water even on cloudy days. My old plug in pump died twice in that same time. Guess I was wrong.

Same thing happened to me man. I got a little solar fountain from Amazon on a whim like two years ago and threw it in my tiny backyard water feature. That thing has survived two winters with me not even bothering to bring it inside and it still works every single day. Honestly thought it would crap out after a month but it just keeps going. My neighbor's expensive fountain pump died and my cheap solar one is still chugging along lol.
