Found out I was watching bad movies wrong for years

I used to always watch these cheesy sci-fi flicks alone in a dark room trying to take them seriously. After about 20 minutes of "The Room" I almost turned it off because I was so annoyed. Then my buddy Dave came over with a six-pack and we started pointing out every weird line reading and bad green screen effect. That's when it clicked for me. These movies are meant to be watched with other people who can laugh at the nonsense. Has anyone else found a specific movie that only works as a group watch?

Get Dave and six more friends over, queue up "Birdemic: Shock and Terror" and see what happens when the seagulls start dive-bombing with zero physics. @michaeljones is right about the shared laughter being the secret sauce, but I found out the opposite is true too. Watching "The Room" alone a second time after the group watch still made me chuckle because I had those memories of everyone losing it at the spoon picture.

I was so annoyed" is exactly how I felt about those old monster movies I used to watch by myself... I thought I was supposed to appreciate the special effects or whatever. But after a buddy dragged me to a midnight screening of "Plan 9 from Outer Space," the whole room was howling at the cardboard sets and I finally got it. It's a completely different experience when everyone's in on the joke together.
