Hit 50 bad movies watched this year and it totally changed my mind on Sharknado

I used to think Sharknado was just dumb for the sake of being dumb. But after watchin 50 of these terrible movies this year, I finally get it. That movie knows exactly what it is and leans in hard. Theres no pretense. Its like a guy at a party who owns being a mess instead of tryin to be cool. The cgi is garbage and the acting is wooden but theres this weird energy to it that most bad movies are missin. Now I see it as a benchmark for fun trash. Anyone else have a bad movie that clicked for you after a certain number of viewings?

The 50 bad movies thing is key here because I think most people who hate on Sharknado haven't seen enough actual bad movies to recognize the difference. After you've sat through stuff like "Birdemic" or "The Wicker Man" remake, you start to see that Sharknado has this weirdly precise rhythm to its stupidity, like a band that's intentionally playing off-key but still hitting the same beat. It's more like a parody of a bad movie than an actual bad movie, and that's a whole different thing than being lazy.

Honestly I think Sharknado gets way too much credit for being "self aware" when its really just lazy filmmaking dressed up as irony. People bend over backwards to call it genius trash but watch any actual B movie from the 80s like The Room or even something like Miami Connection and you'll see real heart and effort even when it fails. Sharknado feels like a corporate product made by people who knew they could coast on the name and the meme. Its not a guy being a mess at a party, its a guy pretending to be drunk to avoid having to have a real conversation. After 50 bad movies I bet youve seen plenty that actually try and fail in interesting ways. Sharknado just feels like a cash grab that got lucky with a good tagline.
