I finally hit 50 bad movie nights with my friends and it changed my view on Sharknado

We watched the first one as a joke, but after seeing the whole series, I realized the commitment to its own nonsense is kind of brilliant. The scene where they chainsaw out of a shark's stomach in part 2 is the exact moment I stopped laughing at it and started laughing with it. Has anyone else had a movie that got better the worse it got?

That "laughing with it" shift is so real. I read a review once that called movies like that "earnest trash" and it stuck with me. They're bad but they mean it, and that commitment makes all the difference.

Read a piece that called it "joyful incompetence," which feels right. The movie knows it can't do the thing well, so it just goes all in on doing the thing badly with a smile.
