The one bad movie everyone loves but I just can't get behind

I'm talking about The Room. I've sat through it three times now, once with a friend who swore it was hilarious, and I just don't see the fun. Everyone laughs at the awkward acting and the weird plastic spoons, but for me it just feels like a boring, badly made movie that drags on. I used to force myself to watch it because everyone said it was a "so bad it's good" classic, but now I just turn it off after 20 minutes and grab something like Miami Connection instead. Am I missing something, or does anyone else think The Room is more painful than entertaining?

Wait hold on, you sat through it THREE times? Man, I can barely get through the opening scene once without wanting to throw a football through my tv. I respect the dedication but that's rough. The plastic spoons thing is funny for about thirty seconds then you realize that's literally the only joke in the whole movie. I get why people laugh at it because the acting is so bad it circles back around to being weirdly fascinating but it's not like a fun bad movie you can put on with friends and actually enjoy. Miami Connection is a thousand times better because at least that one has energy and heart and a killer soundtrack. The Room just feels like watching someone's failed passion project that somehow became a meme. You're not missing anything, some movies just don't click for everyone no matter how many people tell you they're great.

Three times is definitely excessive, I'll admit that. But @robert_rodriguez66 I think you're underselling what The Room actually is. It's not JUST the spoons or the bad acting, it's the CONSTANT layer of weird choices that pile up. Every single scene has something that makes you go "what were they thinking" and that gives it this kind of hypnotic quality. Miami Connection has heart for sure, but The Room has this SINCERE sadness underneath all the mess that I find genuinely compelling. Tommy Wiseau genuinely believed he was making something deep and beautiful, and that's where the real comedy comes from. It's not a funny bad movie you can just casually watch, but if you go in understanding it's a TOTAL accident of filmmaking, it becomes something special.
