The scene where the alien falls into a pool of goo for 10 minutes straight

I was watching 'Alien from the Deep' last weekend and there's this part where the creature just slowly sinks into a neon green puddle. No music, no dramatic cutaway, just 10 solid minutes of goo. My buddy paused it to grab a beer and came back to the exact same shot. We ended up timing it with a stopwatch on our phones and laughing so hard my ribs hurt. Anyone else got a movie where a single scene just drags on for no reason?

Read somewhere that editor fell asleep during that shot and nobody noticed until the final cut.
